My family has harvested salt on the north shore for three generations; I run the camp, six rooms and a mango tree. I am up at six for the bread, and I can take you to see the harvest before the coaches from Dakar arrive. In the evening there is nobody left but us, the birds and the dogs.

- La crête de dune entre le lac et l'océan, à sept heures du matin. On voit les deux eaux en même temps et on n'entend rien.

- Donner ce qu'on a sans faire d'histoires. Si vous arrivez à quinze heures affamé, on ne vous demandera pas si vous avez réservé le repas.

- Dormez une nuit au lieu de venir à la journée. Entre dix-sept heures et neuf heures, le lac ne ressemble à aucune photo que vous avez vue.

Getting there
From AIBD: 45 km, 50 min to 1 h 15 on the motorway, exiting at Front de Terre. From the Plateau: 4 km, 15-30 min depending on the hour — and walkable in three quarters of an hour along avenue Bourguiba, which plenty of people do in the morning. Taxi 1,500-2,000 CFA. It is one of the best-served districts in the city: minibuses, Dakar Dem Dikk buses and taxis at any hour on Bourguiba, and Colobane station ten minutes away. By car, be warned that parking near the market between ten and seven is a matter of luck.
