Getting there
From AIBD: 15 km, 20-25 min via the Yenne road — the closest address to the airport in the entire catalogue. From central Dakar: 50 km, 1 h to 1 h 15 on the motorway then the coastal road, narrow and unlit after dark. By public transport: a bus to Yenne then a local taxi for the last 5 km, about 2 h in total. No lane in the village is surfaced: taxis stop at the top entrance, and the path down to the beach is steep and sandy — bring a bag rather than a wheeled suitcase.

I have run a fabric shop on Île Nord for twenty-two years: bazin, wax, lace. The flat above was my mother's; I kept it as it was, with the wooden gallery over the street. I know every tailor in the quarter and the best fishmonger in Guet Ndar. Ask me before you buy anything.

- Le thiéboudieune rouge, celui de Saint-Louis, avec le riz cassé et les légumes entiers. C'est ici qu'il est né, on ne va pas se mentir.

- Le pont Faidherbe à dix-huit heures trente, du côté aval. Tout le monde s'y arrête et personne ne l'avoue.

- Recevoir quelqu'un comme si sa mère allait passer vérifier. Draps propres, eau fraîche, et on demande des nouvelles avant de parler d'argent.
- What I always recommend
- Traversez à Guet Ndar tôt le matin quand les pirogues rentrent, puis revenez déjeuner sur l'île. Et gardez une journée pour le Djoudj entre décembre et mars.

- Wolof à la maison, français à la boutique, et l'anglais que j'ai appris avec les clients du festival de jazz.
